I always wanted to start my own blog. I guess I just needed a compelling event to actually do it. I don’t really understand the people that have blogs to write about their boring days at work. I don’t understand the people that write ‘good morning’ or ‘going to lunch.’ Who the hell are they saying this to? But I suppose if you want a blog, you have to start somewhere. Maybe talking about your lunch or your morning is a starting point.
My compelling event happened 29 days ago with this email:
Dear Michael,
Congratulations! We’d like to invite you to run for Children’s Hospital Boston in the Boston Marathon® on April 19, 2010!
Thousands of people apply for a Children’s number every year. They choose 100 out of those thousands. I am 1/100. I have never run a marathon. The longest I have ever run is 13.1 miles, twice. I have 169 days to figure it out. Today was day 1.
I have no idea why I am writing this blog. Like I said, I have always thought about doing a blog. People have said that I should start a blog. I figured this was a good starting point. Maybe I can get a few marathon tips this way. I ran 3 miles this morning and almost had to call 911. Not a good start.
I will hopefully be blogging every few days. I will talk about my training, my diet (or lack there of) and my progression from 3 miles to 26.2. I have included a link to my Miles for Miracles page below. I am very grateful for any donation!
Again, this is day 1 of 169. Who knows if anyone will ever read this, but it’s worth a shot. We’ll see.

Best of luck. I applied and had a phone interview today with Andrea. I should know by the end of the week if I’ll be a part of the team. It would be a great opportunity and I am hopeful to be chosen. I hope your training goes well. It is a great charity to be running and raising money for.
