Not only do I have to figure out how to run 26.2 miles, I need to start eating better. It’s kind of pointless to run all weekend and then have a large steak and cheese for lunch on Monday.
I started training last March for a triathlon in August. I started going to spin class, swimming at the Y and pretty much eating salad every day for a few months. I was in the best shape of my life. I ran a half marathon in May, did a triathlon in August and then another one in mid-September. Again, I was in the best shape of my life. I figured it was time for a much needed rest. I did not run, swim or bike for about 4 weeks. I could barely run 3 miles this past weekend. How that does that work!?!? I don’ get it. It takes months and months to strengthen your body, lose weight and build your lung capacity to be able to run/swim/bike for an extended period of time. I take 30 days off and it is gone! Completely gone! It is extremely frustrating.
This weekend I started running and today was my first day dieting and my first day back to the gym. Both went pretty well. I am trying to drink a gallon of water each day this week as well. I’m not sure if this does anything or not, but I do it as sort of a body cleansing. Plus, it helps get me back into the habit of drinking a ton of water. No more DD iced coffees for me.
My diet consists of (yah, you guessed it) chicken, vegetables, chicken, fruit and chicken. I’ll also throw in some oatmeal and eggs once in awhile for breakfast. Other than that, it’s gonna be 5 1/2 months of salads, chicken, veggies, fruit, water and protein shakes. Mmmmmm. At least my protein shakes are cookies n’ cream flavored!
I promise these entries will be less boring in the future. I am still trying to straighten out this stupid blog, so I’m kind of just filling some space until that happens.
Stay posted for the first 5:30 am workout on Wednesday. That should be good reading material.
I had two eggplant rollatinis, a fried risotto ball and a cannoli for lunch today. Good luck with the dieting!
